Adoration before the Blessed Sacrament

Adoration before the Blessed Sacrament

Pope Francis, in his Misericordiae Vultus, Bull of Indiction of the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy, states, “The initiative of “24 Hours for the Lord,” to be celebrated on the Friday and Saturday preceding the Fourth Week of Lent, should be implemented in every diocese. So many people, including young people, are returning to the Sacrament of Reconciliation; through this experience they are rediscovering a path back to the Lord, living a moment of intense prayer and finding meaning in their lives. Let us place the Sacrament of Reconciliation at the centre once more in such a way that it will enable people to touch the grandeur of God’s mercy with their own hands. For every penitent, it will be a source of true interior peace.” Read this document in full at this link.

As part of Pope Francis’ call for a “24 Hours for the Lord”,  we will have a continuous 24 hours of Mercy Adoration at Our Lady of the Valley in Fort Payne Friday, March 4 – Saturday, March 5. Adoration will begin immediately after the First Friday 9:00 a.m. Mass and conclude after the First Saturday devotions at 10:00 a.m.
