Parish Activities

Jesus welcomes us as we enter the Church

Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church offers many opportunities for you to get involved and broaden your faith horizons. A rich religious education program, providing for the hungry, and weekly praying of the rosary are just some of the ways you can serve and be served.

For just as we have many members in one body and all the members do not have the same function, so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. Romans 12:4-5

High School Ministry and Confirmation Sacramental Preparation

Confirmation Sacramental Preparation

Confirmation sacramental preparation consists of three components: Prayer, Knowledge and Service. Prayer and Knowledge components consist of attending sessions during October-May weekly on Wednesdays from 5-7:15pm. The Service Component consists of 40 hours of service that can be completed during the Prayer and Knowledge components during the academic year or during special Service Component activities held during the summer.

The parish Confirmation Mass with Bishop Baker is scheduled for Monday, August 14, 2016.

High School Ministry (YDisciple)

The parish is currently in the process of beginning a high school ministry effort called YDisciple. YDisciple is a process in which small discipleship groups of 6-8 young men or young women are formed that meet weekly along with 2 adult mentors to pray, socialize, learn about, and share their faith.

Currently, adult mentors are needed in order for groups to begin meeting. Once adult mentors complete an Adult Mentor Application and the appropriate diocesan Youth Protection training, they will be provided all materials and training necessary to mentor a small group. If you are willing to serve as an adult mentor for a YDisciple group, please contact Christina Semmens, 256-603-0225,

Adult Sacramental Preparation (English and Spanish)

For any adults who have not received all the sacraments of initiation (First Holy Communion and/or Confirmation) who have been baptized Roman Catholic. Sessions are held in Spanish on Saturdays, 7-9am and Mondays, 6-8pm, or from 5-7:30pm on Wednesdays in English.  Click here for Adult Sacramental preparation schedules  Spanish or English
